Looking north.
The panoramic views from Sector 1 encompass features already visible from the Appalachian-style viewpoints encountered during the ascent. While some of these may also be explained in the adjacent sectors, we can highlight the following:
Directly ahead, we see the anticlinal valley of the Almonte River to our left and the Viejas syncline to our right. The massive quartzite ridge separating them is the Sierra de las Acebadillas—a range we passed on our right at the Ballesteros mountain pass (collado). Further to the east, the anticlinal valley of the Ibor River comes into view.
